Actress Manju Warrier’s Aami, based on the real life story of legendary writer Kamala Suraiyya (also known as Kamala Das or Madhavikutty), is one of the most anticipated movies in Malayalam. It was earlier reported that young star Prithviraj Sukumaran would be appearing in a cameo role in the film. However, the Classmates actor who was supposed to play a pivotal role in the movie has backed out of the project due to his busy schedule.
The actor apparently even recommended that Oru Mexican Aparatha star Tovino Thomas do the role. The two of them had earlier worked in the film Ennu Ninte Moideen together.
Prithviraj, who was to play a pivotal role, is the second actor to walk out of the project. Vidya Balan, who was set to play the poet on screen, backed out after some controversy, with the makers roping Manju Warrier in.
Aami, featuring Manju Warrier in the lead role is a biopic on the life of Madhavikutty, aka Kamala Suraiyya and Murali Gopi and Anoop Menon as supporting roles. The movie is slated to hit the screens by Christmas.
