Karan Johar fathers twins, via surrogacy

When he launched his biography An Unsuitable Boy last month, Karan Johar mentioned he’d like to be a parent someday. But his fans didn’t know ‘someday’ would come so soon. The Bollywood director just released a statement confirming that he has now become the proud father of twins via surrogacy. The twins were born last month, delivered by Dr Makrand Masani at the same Mumbai-based hospital as Shah Rukh Khan’s youngest son, AbRam.

Johar’s took to twitter to talk about the new additions to his family, “I am ecstatic to share with you all the two most wonderful additions to my life, my children and life lines; Roohi and Yash. I feel enormously blessed to be a parent to these pieces of my heart who were welcomed into this world with the help of the marvels of medical science.”

As soon as the announcement was out, congratulations and blessings started pouring in. Alia Bhatt, who considers Johar her mentor and guide, was the first one to wish the filmmaker on social media. She tweeted “Finally I can say I have a younger brother AND sister!!! So so so happy!!! So much love to give uff bursting with joy.” Karan Johar’s friends and colleagues from Bollywood including Priyanka Chopra, and Farah Khan; have expressed their happiness for the director in welcoming the twins.
